APPLICATION: painting
PROBLEM:
The realization of a painting plant for spoilers and bumpers which
will optimize productivity for even small to medium production volumes
and which will be flexible in that it will be possible to paint
both different sized products and lots of different volumes.

Specifications
:
- varying product dimensions, which is to say different stay times
in the various treatment areas;
- 4 different types of painting processes must be accommodated
within the same plant: undercoater (generally for spare parts),
undercoater and final coat painting, with or without lacquer,
with final coat and lacquer;
- reduced space.

SOLUTION :
The plant has been realized using upturned System 2000 P & F conveyors
arranged in five rings on three levels (400 m. in total). The conveyor
includes elevators and lowerators at two and three levels to permit
the changes of level required by the different treatments that the
product must undergo. The software solution on one hand makes it possible
for a process code to be assigned to the products loaded on the trolleys
and thus the path that the products must take, and on the other hand
it controls the speed of the master chain and automatically synchronizes
this with that of the slave chains.
The plant is further supplied with a self-diagnosis system which speeds
up the starting time after malfunctioning. Finally, statistical processing
of these malfunctions allow for targeted preventive maintenance.
