SECTOR: INFORMATICS
APPLICATION : warehousing of control box components
PROBLEM:
The realization of a flexible plant for the storing and routing of unfinished control board components from the production lines to the painting or zinc plating lines, and then for transferring the processed components to the assembly lines following a well-defined order.

In addition, the plant had to be capable of optimizing the component flow depending on the both the production and assembly schedules.

Specifications:
  • space restrictions;
  • simultaneous handling of the different component types (approx. 1,000 types);
  • the existence of different flow rates in loading/unloading points depending on the various incoming or outgoing component lines;
  • the need to respect pre-set flow rates but with variability in the loading/unloading points depending on the component type;
  • the need to remove components from the warehouse in an order different to that for storing;
  • the possibility of using the warehouse for both unfinished components and processed ones.

Discensore   ANSWER :
The solution developed requires the use of System 2000 overhead conveyors for the realization of both the warehouse and the component recycling lines.

One- or two-level drop sections make it possible for the components to be transferred not only from one line to the warehouse and vice-versa but also between the various levels of the same warehouse.

The adopted control and software enable to combine during loading operations the trolley code to load code thus making it possible to know the quantity, the position and the types of components on the conveyor system and consequently to address them to the different processes.

The plant is further equipped with a control and diagnosis system, and it is connected on line with the host computers.
